The UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Ministry of Education on Sunday 18th of May, 2014. His Excellency the Minister Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, and His Excellency Haji Idris bin Jusoh, Malaysian Minister of Education signed the MoU within the framework of the recent visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister to the UAE.
In an effort by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and by the directives of his Excellency the Minister Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, to encourage cooperation between universities and institutions of higher education and scientific research in both the UAE and other countries, including cooperation in research and technology, especially joint research projects, this Memorandum came to activate cooperation between the two countries, continue the bilateral relations between the two countries, and provide an important opportunity to expand the horizons of the cultural and scientific exchange between both countries, as they realize the importance of higher education as one of the supportive factors for economic development and strengthening relationships between both parties. Therefore, they both agreed on exchanging information on the education system and accreditation of academic certificates, as well as exchanging academics, teachers, trainers, experts and students between higher education institutions in coordination with the Malaysian Ministry of Education and the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with regard to programs of mutual interest to both parties, exchanging information about the system and structure of higher education, reforms, and modern educational techniques, exchanging visits and training faculty members and administrators, exchanging scholarships to continue education in the higher education institutions recognized by both countries, mutual recognition of the academic, vocational, and multi- technology qualifications, the possibility of mutual recognition of qualifications, for instance, the academic, vocational, technical, artistic, and scientific qualification, and supporting the exchange of expertise in the fields of information technology, communication, technical and vocational education, mathematics, and sciences, and any other area of cooperation in the field of higher education between them.
His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, discussed with the Malaysian Prime Minister the cooperation and friendship between UAE And Malaysia, and means of supporting and developing them, in order to achieve mutual interest between the two countries and nations, and his Highness emphasized that the continuation of the excellent relations is in the best interest of both countries and peoples, which leads to building a typical relationship that seeks to expand horizons of cooperation in the different educational, economic, and investment fields, and both his Highness and the Malaysian Prime Minister witnessed signing of the Memorandum.
