The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on Tuesday (3/6/2014) during the Fourth Orientation Forum, the decision issued by the his Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, to amend some of the regulations of the Ministerial Decisions (35) for 2013, regarding the amendment of the system of scientific certificates equivalency at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The Forum was organized by the Certificate Equivalency and Scholarship, and Cultural Foreign Relations Departments of the Ministry, in order to announce the latest developments and services provided by the Ministry, so as to deliver the best services for customers.
The Forum was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Saeed Hamad Al Hassani, Undersecretary of the Ministry, the two Assistant Undersecretaries, Heads of Departments, and Mr. Saif Rashed Al Mazroui, Assistant Undersecretary for Institutional & Support Services who delivered a welcome speech, in which he welcomed the attendees who included a number of journalists and media experts, and an orientation film about the Ministry was displayed, along with two presentations: the first one was about the regulation of distance learning certificates – e-learning-, delivered by Ms. Badreya Al Nowfali, Head of Certificate Equivalency Department, and the second one was about the scholarship student portal, which was delivered by the Ms. Reem Al Boainain, from the Scholarship and Cultural Foreign Relations Department, in which she showcased the student’s portal and its services, which enables students to submit their scholarship application through the smart phones, and track the application online, and know the phases of the applications until the transaction is completed, and this service includes following up on the scholar academically and financially.
Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Shayeb Al Naqbi, Deputy Head of Certificate Equivalency Committee, delivered a presentation about the decision which was issued by his Excellency the Minister on Thursday 29/5/2014, in order to adopt the developments and updates in the field of certificate equivalency, so as to achieve the vision and mission of higher education in the State. The Decision included the students’ commitment to the study system in which they are enrolled, and according to the adopted systems at the educational institution in the country of study that do are not in conflict with the conditions of certificate equivalency system. It also included an amendment for items 9 and 10 of article 6 of the decision, regarding the student’s presence during the period of conducting research at the headquarters of the educational institution granting the scientific degree as per the specialties and various academic programs. The decision also included the number of hours that can be transferred by the student, and which were studied via untraditional educational systems, and the transfer conditions.
At the end of the Forum, the door was open for questions by the attendees and they were answered by Mr. Al Mazroui and the members of the Certificate Equivalency Committee, and the Director of the Equalization Department. The Ministry expressed its happiness for the success of the Forum, and thanked the institutions, companies and official and unofficial authorities, who contributed in the success of the Forum.
The Forum is considered one of the mechanisms of implementing the strategic plan of the Ministry in order to develop and improve its performance, and facilitate the provision of services for its customers including students, parents, or faculty members at government and private higher educational institutions.
