The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research upon the directives of his Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, invites all female researchers and scientists to apply for the -L’Oreal UNESCO Pan Arab Regional Fellowships for Women in Science- awards launched by the L’Oreal Middle East Foundation in cooperation with UNESCO and Zayed University in the UAE, after opening receiving of applications, four awards will be granted this year to four distinguished female researchers in the field of scientific research, who will be selected from seven Arab countries which are the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and Yemen, as each of the winners will receive a prize of 20,000 euros, in recognition of their contribution to advancing scientific development and to support them in their scientific and professional career.
The Ministry’s call to encourage researchers to apply for the program, with the aim of the development of higher education and scientific research, that would achieve success in the competitive field which the Government seeks to achieve the top in the lists, and pursuant to the directions of the wise leadership that put women’s education and leadership capacity and skills development, and empowerment in all aspects of life in its strategic plan, to become an example referred to in the various international forums.
His Excellency the Minister stressed on several occasions the importance of respecting women, and enabling them to ensure a perfect environment to teach them and demonstrate their competence in the field of employment, and the development of their leading role in society, and providing scholarship opportunities for women, and encourage them by the academics advisors to complete their higher studies, and direct them towards the appropriate disciplines for future jobs and opportunities in the labor market.
It is noteworthy that Zayed University represented by Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Development And International Cooperation, President of Zayed University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with L’Oreal Middle East Foundation, and Mr. Thierry Houssin, Managing Director of the Foundation during a ceremony at the headquarters of the University in Abu Dhabi, under the Memorandum Zayed University would name a professor specializing in life sciences to join the current Committee of the program to work with it in the assessment of applications and choosing the winners in the program, which is considered one of the most important programs aimed at honoring Arab women in the science field.
