The National Committee for Scholarships, during its third meeting held Thursday, September 25th, chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, launched the National Scholarship Database that his Excellency instructed to be created as an umbrella that provides integrated information about Emirati students on scholarships, with the aim of enriching policies and scholarship programs of the State , as the database contains, in addition to all the information related to students, more than 20 fixed analytical reports to enable the relevant decision-makers to use these reports in drawing their policies and plans for the future based on solid and accurate information, as the users can build the analysis that they need as per their requirements. The database will form an essential arm for the electronic scholarship system launched by the Ministry to all students on scholarships.
The National Committee also discussed the topics related to the strategy of scholarships in order to ensure the integration and coordination between the scholarship bodies in the State, through setting scenarios for the development of regulatory frameworks for the scholarship system, in accordance with the laws in force in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and developing a strategy and performance indicators for the scholarship systems, in coordination with the higher education system and the needs of the labor market in the State, to achieve the best outcome and effectiveness of the scholarship system in line with the strategic plans of the Ministry and the State in general.
The topics raised by the working group were discussed. The team included members and representatives from the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, the UAE Armed Forces, Ministry of Interior, and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, UAE University, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The topics included the compatibility between scholarship systems and the certificate equivalency system, a unified mechanism for internal scholarships, directing scholarships in accordance with the research and practical needs of the State, the vocational training scholarships in the rare fields, the evaluation mechanism of graduates after recruitment to verify their competencies, and the career counseling guide for scholarship student.
