The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the directives of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, launched the UAE Higher Education Institutions Guide on its website, on Wednesday, November 12th, 2014, in order to support individuals in the selection of the appropriate academic and career paths that meet the needs of the State and its labor market. The Guide was linked with the Jobs and Careers of National Cadres Guide issued by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.
The Guide contains all the information related to higher education institutions in the State that show privileges of each of them, the nature of studying in them, the numbers of their students and the grants they offer, and mechanisms adopted for acceptance, in addition to everything related to the disciplines offered by these institutions and their requirements of enrolment, such as the previous qualification required for each specialty, the acceptance criteria, the duration of the study, the number of hours of study, tuition fees, the courses of education and skills required for each specialty, with a synopsis for each specialty and the nature of jobs associated with them, and the geographical location of the institution, and information on the educational institutions and their programs will be updated continuously, especially in light of the rapid development and constant increase in the number of educational programs offered by the universities and colleges.
The Guide can be easily browsed through the search engine property according to the Emirate, specialization, and the level of degree, and it is available in Arabic and English. It also allows the browser to directly link with the website of the educational institution concerned, in order to have access to more details about the institution or program which the student wishes to join or inquire about.
The Ministry hopes that the guide will achieve the desired goal of its launch, seeking to contribute to the achievement of a knowledge-based society, and the development of higher education and scientific research in the UAE, so as to serve the community development requirements, and open to and cooperate with all bodies that serve the students, which is an important step to improve the level of services.
