Following the announcement the UAE topped the most dynamic countries in the development of the ICT sector
His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed that the strategy of higher education in the State is in line with the vision and aspiration Emiratis, explaining that different departments of the Ministry works through scientific basis and international standards for the development and leadership of higher education and scientific research, to achieve the objectives and requirements of the developmental phase the State is going through in General, in appropriation to the needs and requirements of the various sectors of national cadres in particular, seeking to create a stable and well-established infrastructure to a sustainable Emirati labor market.
This came after the International Telecommunications Union announced on Monday 24/11/2014, that the UAE is in the forefront of the most dynamic countries in the development of information and communication technology sector and higher than the average, his Excellency said that the Ministry is seeking to supplement the UAE labor market according to the requirements and specifics of each stage of development of the State, and that the Ministry’s strategy for the coming years, will focus on the vital sectors required by the transition to a green economy, especially the ICT sector, renewable energy, green transportation, clean technology, in addition to the basic sectors to achieve the international development goals. And that strategy is achieved by applying academic accreditation standards and quality requirements, in accrediting disciplines and programs of the various institutions of higher education in the State, or through the application of the criteria of scholarship for Emirati students to study abroad, and the UAE Vision 2021, which seeks to make the State an international hub and a successful model of the new green economy under the slogan “Green Economy for Sustainable Development”, which communications technology is one of its most important attributes.
Studies conducted by the Ministry show that in the coming years there will be introduction of new jobs, and rehabilitation of others in those States that are working to transform their economies to a competitive sustainable green knowledge economy. So his Excellency directed work teams, mentors and educators to work on guiding students through forums and workshops for grade twelve students whether applying to attend government or private institutions of higher education in the State, or interested in applying for scholarship, to examine their options carefully and objectively to commensurate with their abilities and capabilities and the market need for a specialty, because there are some disciplines that have become saturated in the UAE labor market, while others are rare and new.
