His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on the International Youth Day, which is marked on August 12th each year, recalled the care of the UAE leaders for the youth, led by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
His Excellency stressed the fact that without the care and attention paid by the UAE leaders to the youth and their education, rehabilitation, and development of their creative abilities in the political, economic ,and social spheres, the UAE would not have reached this position, and he valued the initiatives of innovation and creativity launched by the leaders, which will unleash the energies of young people and their creativity, and guide and support them in all fields, in order to achieve the UAE Vision 2021, referring to the “Innovation Pioneers Award”, which has been recently launched by the Ministry in embodiment of this vision and strategy.
It is noteworthy that this care and vision for the development of young people are not confined to young Emiratis, rather, they included young people in all parts of the globe, as the UAE’s aid, dedicated to support and qualify the young people in the developing countries over the past six years, reached an equivalent of 541 million Dirhams, according to a report recently published by the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development, which confirms the importance of the UAE’s aid to support the youth in the fields of social support, education, and industry in many developing countries and poor communities.
According to the Ministry’s report, the UAE’s aid for youth in the developing countries in the areas of social support reached about 333 million Dirhams, followed by the UAE’s aid to the education sector, nearly 187 million Dirhams. The report also referred to Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation’s aid, estimated at 181.3 million Dirhams, followed by the government bodies’ aid, around 124.2 million Dirhams, and then the UAE Red Crescent Authority came in the third place, about 74 million Dirhams.
At the level of the continents targeted by the UAE aid program to develop the potential of youth, the developing countries in Asia received about 315-million-dirham aid, and the developing countries in Africa received about 184-million- dirham aid.
