The National Committee for Coordination of Scholarships held its fourth meeting under the chairmanship of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, on Thursday, March 12th, 2015.
The Committee discussed at its meeting a number of topics on its agenda as an update of the issues discussed in its previous meetings, most notably, the activation of the national database by urging the scholarship authorities to provide complete data according to the tables agreed on with these authorities.
The Committee also stressed on the coordination with the scholarship authorities on their representative offices in the State’s embassies abroad, and provide an opportunity for the scholarship authorities to make use of the seats and scholarships from both the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Russian Federation, in accordance with the agreements signed between the UAE and these countries on different academic and technical degrees and disciplines. The Committee reviewed the proposal of the Certificate Equivalency Committee about solving the problem of scholarship students who exceeded the percentage of non-conventional hours within the academic degree according to the certificate equivalency system, through re-studying these hours with regular attendance at one of the public higher education institutions.
At the end of the meeting, His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan stressed the need for fulfilling the tasks required of the Committee within a specific timeframe, to reach the desired goals identified in the decision of establishing the Committee issued by the UAE Cabinet.
