His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received his counterpart Nuno Crato, Portuguese Minister of Education and Science, accompanied by Jaime Leitão, Ambassador of Portugal in the UAE, and they discussed framing the relationships between them in the field of higher education and scientific research, how to link the universities in both countries and benefit from the experiences of the two countries in this sector, and ways to strengthen bilateral and technological cooperation between both of them.
During the meeting, they discussed ways of cooperation in the technological fields, especially nanotechnology “micro-technologies”, and biotechnology, “the science specialized in the study of organisms at the cellular level and genetic material”, as Portugal is famous for these technologies, and it has a global laboratory in this field, as well as a large number of researchers, which contributes to discussing cooperation on encouraging student exchanges between the UAE and Portugal in all areas.
The Portuguese Minister expressed, at the conclusion of the meeting, his willingness to forge closer ties, as the meeting discussed a visit to the UAE by a delegation from Portuguese universities, and a delegation from the public and private universities in the UAE will be formed to meet the Portuguese delegation and discuss exchange in the various fields of education.
