His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chancellor of UAE University, chaired the second meeting of the UAE University Council for the academic year 2014/2015, on Tuesday 24/3/2015, at the UAE University campus in Al Ain.
The UAE University Council includes his Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, his Excellency Hussein Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, her Excellency Noura Mohammed A-Kaabi, Member of the Federal National Council, Chief Executive Officer of TwoFour54, his Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Hajeri, Chief Executive Officer of Tawazun Holdings, Aysha Abdullah Taryam, Editor-in-Chief of The Gulf Today, his Excellency Eissa Abdulfattah Kazim, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Center, his Excellency Abdulla Nasser Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Board, Al-Nasser Holdings and Group of Companies, his Excellency Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Sheryani, his Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, Dr. Butti Sultan Al Muhairi from the College of Law, Dr. Fatima Abdulbaqi Al Jasmi from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Asma Abubaker Al Menhali from the College of Science, and Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Suwaidi from the College of Education. The University Council in its second meeting discussed a series of subjects that promote UAE University’s leadership and excellence in higher education and scientific research at the regional and global levels, and focused on developing the capacity of scientific research and innovation in areas of national and regional importance, while continuing to achieve academic excellence in line with the academic and institutional accreditation standards. The meeting also discussed the University Council’s affairs, the appointment of a new dean to the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, granting university degrees to the graduates of the first semester of the academic year 2014/2015, the establishment of a Bachelor of Education program in Health and Physical Education in the Department of Health and Physical Education at the College of Education, and a range of topics related to academic programs and human resources policies.
