His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Lena Kolarska-Bobinska, Poland’s Minister of Science & Higher Education, with the aim of establishing and strengthening cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research.
This came during a visit by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to Poland, in order to discuss further investment and cooperation in the various fields, during which several agreements and Memorandums of Understanding were signed in the fields of higher education and scientific research, small and medium-sized enterprises, agriculture and food safety, tourism and other fields. The Memorandum of Understanding in the field of higher education and scientific research included promoting cooperation between universities and institutions of higher education and scientific research in both countries through direct agreements, seminars, courses, conferences, exhibitions, and lectures of common interest and participation of both parties, the exchange of visits by researchers, experts and technicians in the various fields in accordance with mutually agreed upon programs. The Memorandum also included cooperation in the exchange of information concerning education quality, performance standards, assessment of results, the development of methodologies, student affairs and alumni, and the qualification awarded by higher education institutions in both countries to facilitate mutual recognition of such qualifications. The Memorandum encouraged visits by undergraduate and graduate students (Masters and PhD), to participate in the scientific, cultural, sports and social activities with the prior consent of both parties.
