His Highness Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces today inaugurated the fifth World Future Energy Summit (WFES 2012), at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
The opening ceremony was also attended by world leaders, heads of state and the Secretary General of the United Nations as well as local and international company CEOs in the renewable energy sector.
WFES is considered the largest international platform for bringing together the latest innovations and projects in renewable energy.
Attendees of the opening ceremony, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company Masdar from 16-19 January, included Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, President of Iceland, Atifete Jahjaga President of the Republic of Kosovo, Boris Tadic, President of Serbia, Wen Jiabao, Premier of the People s Republic of China, Kim Hwang-sik, Prime Minister of South Korea and UN Secretary General Ban Kimoon as well as Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, President of the 66th UN General Assembly.
The opening ceremony was also attended by H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler s Representative in the Eastern Region, H.H. Sheikh Surour bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works and Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA).
