Abu Dhabi, Oct 10th, 2011 (WAM)–Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, Chairman of National Media Council (NMC) and Sheikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Information Affairs’ Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain attended the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Emirates News Agency (WAM) and Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
Present was Dr Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States.
The MoU, which was signed at the sidelines of the 19th session of GCC Information Ministers, comes in line with the framework of GCC Media Coordination. It aims to exchange news between WAM and BNA.
Commenting on the agreement, Sheikh Hamdan said the MoU will boost the media relations between the two sisterly countries, indicating that it will further increase media coordination between the two news agencies through highlighting the activities in both countries.
BNA quoted Sheikh Fawaz as saying, “the signing of MoU comes in line with the relations between the two sisterly countries”, stressing the role being shouldered by the two agencies to shed light on the ties between the UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain, which were outlined by the leadership of both countries.
Signed by Ibrahim Al Abed, Director General of WAM and Mohanned Suleiman, Director General of BNA, the MoU aim to exchange news and archives, and mutual benefit from the technical and professional expertise
