Speaking on the UAE’s National Media Council ,or NMC, Sheikh Hamdan said the body plays a major role in promoting the achievements the country has been making in all spheres.
“The more the UAE’s media observe the modern media rules, the more it becomes the major reference for all parties seeking authentic information which truly reflect the reality of the achievements of the UAE as well as the challenges it face.” “The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is maximizing the benefits of information revolution and the modernization of its media organizations through adding more efficient expertise and qualified young national human resources,” Sheikh Hamdan added.
He cited the multi-lingual WAM website as an effective tool to reach out to the rest of the world and promote the progress the UAE is making through providing the latest updates on political, cultural and social developments.
He also noted that the UAE is home for 15 TV channels, 24 radio stations, 9 Arabic dailies, 7 English dailies and hundreds of weeklies, monthlies and periodicals.
“The UAE has four free media zones in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah which host hundreds of media organizations from all over the world,” he said.
“Based on its belief in the need for opening up to the other to properly introduce our culture and civilized comprehensive boom, gives special attention to participating in the GCC Days series of events in European and Asian capitals,” Sheikh Hamdan concluded.
