The follow up committee on the initiatives of the National Media Council (NMC) on Emiratisation has decided to ask all media institutions and organizations in the state to give details about the number of media persons employed in these organizations and the percentage of citizens of all employees as well as their training plans for media professionals.
Ahmed Ali Al Balochi, General Manager of Emirates Media Inc., chaired the meeting held at Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel in Dubai. This was the second meeting of the committee and attended by its members.
The Committee commended the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of National Media Council (NMC), to support the required steps for training and qualifying media cadres who graduated from media universities and colleges in the state and the NMC s initiative to give financial rewards during the training period for media graduates.
The Committee hailed the Cabinet s keenness on Emiratisation of media professionals in the state s media institutions and organizations praising the media training plans adopted by Sharjah Television and Radio.
The committee assigned Saif Rashed Al Mazroui, Assistant Under-Secretary for Scientific Research at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to provide statistics and data of the media graduates in the State or who are still learning media studies in UAE and abroad. In addition, Noora Al Bedur, Director of Employment and Skills Development Center (ESDC) at TANMIA shall coordinate with the Ministry of Higher Education on the provision of statistics and data of media graduates.
The Committee recommended to come to an agreement with one of the educational institutions in the state for training graduate students from the media faculties and qualify them to work in the media sector under a training project.
The Committee members were briefed on detailed presentation from Noora Al Bedur on the initiatives undertaken by the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (TANMIA) in the media field. She also provided data on registered number of media professionals in the authority.
