Abu Dhabi, Sept. 14th, 2011 (WAM) — A delegation from the Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai discussed here today with National Media Council (NMC) the establishing of strategic partnership and enhancing media cooperation between the two sides.
Ibrahim Al Abed, Director General of the NMC, said the NMC is keen to cooperate with the CDA in all media and societal aspects.
He added that under the guidance of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, Chairman of the NMC, the Council is keen to develop the institutional and community-based partnership with the CDA in Dubai to highlight its role in serving Emirati community.
Saeed Abdullah Al Darmeki, Executive Director for the Media Activities at the NMC, offered to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CDA to further boost social empowerment that would contribute to support of common social projects from the media perspectives.
During the meeting, the both sides emphasised the role of media in raising community awareness on the importance of sustainable development and social responsibility through supporting social, humanitarian, ethical, economic, environmental and legal development efforts. They also tackled the possibility of benefiting from available expertise in the field of media training and e-archiving.
The CDA delegation praised the role of the NMC and Emirates News Agency in highlighting news of CDA, expressing hopes to further cooperate in the field of digital television telecast service that transmits multiple events, activities and news daily in the State and around the world.
The CDA delegation included Ahmed Al Mouhairi, Executive Director for the Development and Social Planning Sector at the CDA and Salah Al Sayyed Abduljalil Al Hashimi, Director of the Marketing and Institutional Communication at the CDA.
It is worth mentioning that the CDA is a government agency affiliated to the Government of Dubai and is responsible for organising and developing frameworks for community development in the emirate to achieve the goals of Dubai Strategic Plan of 2015 announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai in February 2007.
The CDA sets policies and regulations for providers of social services based on five-strategy points, which includes boosting of national identity, provision of protection, social empowerment through setting up and management of integrated social system to enable inhabitants of the emirate of Dubai to contribute positively in all development sectors and achieve social affinity based on tolerance and openness to other cultures.
It is responsible for setting up and developing frameworks for social development in Dubai. It aims to attain the goals of the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 and will, in cooperation with concerned bodies, raise the levels of social development in Dubai and enhance the role of nationals in society.
The CDA also undertakes to develop the basic structure necessary for its functioning, through setting up of necessary policies, restraints and standards pertaining to social services providers. Moreover, the CDA aspires to empower Dubai society members and residents, enable them to participate positively in the social development and provide them with a variety of social services.
Since its inception the CDA launched the Dubai Centre for Development of Child Growth, the first of its kind in the Middle East and the third world level. It also set up the section for volunteers affairs to recruit volunteers nationwide and rehabilitate them to inculcate the voluntary work culture
