Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Presidential Affairs H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan presided today over a meeting of the Ministerial Council for Services (MCS).
The Council members approved the national document for the upgraded curriculum of Islamic education, proposed by the Ministry of Education.
The new curriculum, slated for implementation in public and private schools, starts from nursery education stage to Grade 12.
The curriculum focuses on Islamic knowledge, Jurisprudence and values. It also provides students with skills of thinking and dealing with the Holy Quran and Sunna as rich sources that are not only intended for memorisation, but also for knowledge and wisdom.
The new curriculum also promotes moderation and methodology with the aim of engendering a flexible mentality that rejects extremism and recognises difference and variations.
The Council members also reviewed a proposal tabled by the Ministry of Economy on granting the Consumer Protection Department a larger role.
Also discussed was a proposed mechanism for classifying and indexing commodities for the GCC countries.
The Council sanctioned drafting a federal law on amending the existing law on regulation and protection of industrial properties for patents and prototypes.
Also discussed were other topics on the agenda.
