Abu Dhabi, Feb 19th, 2011 (WAM) — Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, Chairman of the National Media Council said that the tenth edition of the International Defence Exhibition (Idex 2011) in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is strong evidence of the success of the march of this exhibition, which began early in 1993.
The minister also said that the continuity of the exhibition emphasises the efficiency and competence of the children of UAE to host one of the most prominent defense exhibitions in the world according to international standards.
“such exhibitions create more opportunities in the UAE in the fields of science, knowledge, investment and industry”, Sheikh Hamdan said.
He added that the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and the concerted efforts of the various team players involved in the preparation of the exhibition work as base engine for the provision of all elements of the success for IDEX in its tenth edition.
Sheikh Hamdan assured that there is effective coordination between the National Media Council (NMC) and the Higher Organizing Committee for Idex 201, especially with regard to the media to ensure adequate media coverage of the exhibition on the local, Arab and international levels during the period from 20 to 24 February.
He said that the National Media Council provides extensive media coverage of this exhibition through its arm, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the local, regional and international levels. The NMC has also extended invitations to a number of specialized journalists from outside the country, he added.
Pointing out that 950 defence exhibitors from 50 countries will participate in the event, Sheikh Hamdan stressed that
The exhibition itself is not a goal but a means of promoting our country and its institutions, as well as to highlight its various achievements in the fields of economy, culture, tourism, and investment.
