Abu Dhabi, 14th Feb. 2011 (WAM) — The UAE will learn from and implement the international best experiments in core land and sea transport operations in pursuit of its ambitions to join the club of best countries worldwide in delivery of land and sea transport services, according to Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of the Board of the National Transport Authority (NTA).
He said the NTA would simulate the most advanced systems in the world to deliver the Vision 2021, launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Which calls for advancing the UAE as one of the world’s reliable providers? Of land and sea transport.
Sheikh Hamdan made his remarks on the occasion of receiving today the ISO 9001: 2008Quality management system and a memorial shield from Bureau VERITAS (BV), an International Certification Body, and United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
“The ISO certification was a fruit of the NTA’s relentless efforts to design and introduce a quality management system as per the best international standards,” Sheikh Hamdan indicated.
“The target is not getting the ISO certification in itself, which has become quality management system in the federal ministries and entities that can bolster pillars of institutional excellence,” he said.
Director General of the NTA Dr. Nasser Al Mansouri said the quality management system was launched in the NTA in October 2010 to deliver high rates of satisfaction for employees, customers, strategic partners and suppliers.
According to him, the system will sharpen the NTA’s competitive edge and elevate its profile in the local landscape of institutional excellence as well as in the regional and international scenes.
The quality management system will serve the NTA’s future plans To compete for excellence and high standards awards as stated in its 2011-2013 strategic plans.
