WAM Abu Dhabi, Nov 10th, 2010 (WAM)–Minister of Works, Chairman of National Media Council (NMC), Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak received here today Ping Hu, Chairman of the Chinese Xinhua News Agency and the delegation accompanying. The Chinese media delegation is visiting the UAE in a regional tour.
Sheikh Hamdan stressed during the meeting importance of relations between the UAE and China, referring to keenness of the UAE to boost the ties between the two countries. The two sides explored bilateral cooperation between Emirates News Agency (WAM) and Xinhua. The visiting delegation cited the facilities being provided by WAM to the Xinhua correspondent in the UAE and communication between the two agencies in Cairo and Beijing.
The Chinese visiting delegation briefed the UAE minister on the talks with Ibrahim Al Abed, Director General of NMC, on activation and furthering cooperation between the two agencies to include swap of TV news and photos.
On his part, the Chinese official described the UAE-Sino relations as ‘excellent’, citing the fruitful results of the visit of the Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to China and its impact on the bilateral relations. He also noted that the visit of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and his meeting with the Chinese Vice President and officials, was also successful as it opened many avenues for cooperation between the two countries.
