His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research honored on Tuesday 29th of December 2015, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, winners of the “Innovation Pioneers Award”, out of his Excellency’s keenness on encouraging students and researchers and to motivate others to focus on creativity, and to implant the methodology of innovation in scientific research, to contribute actively to building a competitive knowledge-based economy in the UAE State.
His Excellency said after honoring the student innovator winners in university education and graduate studies within and outside of the State, “the Award aims to translate scientific research and ideas of students to viable innovative projects, and contribute to achieving the social and environmental development of the State.”
The winning research included several topics including Islamic Economics, Green Energy, Genetics, Education, and electronic applications assisting in the medical sector, electronic engineering and technology, and health sciences.
The Award was launched in June 2015 to include two major sections; Best Scientific and Technological Innovation Award, and Best Innovative Research Award. The Best Scientific and Technological Innovation Award includes four categories: Undergraduate Students Abroad Award, Graduate Students Abroad Award, Undergraduate Students of Government and Accredited Private Higher Education Institutions in the State Award, and Graduate Students of Government and Accredited Private Higher Education Institutions in the State Award. While the Best Innovative Research Award, it includes three specialized areas: The Best Innovative Research for Scientific and Engineering Disciplines Award, the Best Innovative Research for Medical Specialties and Health Sciences Award, and the Best Innovative Research for Humanities and Social Disciplines Award, and it also includes the aforesaid four categories for each of the specialized areas for this Award, namely, the scientific and engineering disciplines, medical specialties and health sciences, and humanities and social disciplines.
