His Highness Sheikh “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum”, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday 23rd of November 2015, launched a national program to integrate innovation and entrepreneurship into the curriculums of both public and private higher education institutions in the State, during the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Forum” organized by the “Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research” in “Dubai” in the presence of his Excellency “Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan”, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The program, regarding which the “Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research” recently signed a cooperation agreement with “Stanford Center for Professional Development” at the at the “Leland Stanford Junior University” in the United States, aims to rehabilitate all the State’s higher academic disciplines to be abreast of the UAE’s orientations in the preparation of specialized cadres capable of keeping pace with the demands of the coming development phase and the State’s policies regarding innovation and entrepreneurship.
His Highness said, “Our objective is to prepare the new generation for the future, for a new world that requires different skills, developing the right educational curriculums and tools will support the UAE in maintaining its global competitiveness over the next decade. The coming generations will be required to develop the skills of innovation, analysis and entrepreneurship to keep pace with the rapid changes in technology. Public education is our next target for change.”
His Excellency Sheikh “Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan”, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said that the leadership’s directives to develop the education sector, in particular higher education, reflects the UAE’s efforts to prepare the new generation for meeting the challenges created by rapid changes in the context of a clear forward-looking vision for the future.”
His Excellency pointed out that the new innovation and entrepreneurship curriculums which universities in the State will start teaching from January 2016, represent a crucial step towards achieving the objectives of the National Innovation Strategy and UAE Vision 2021.
