His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chancellor of UAE University, attended the strategic retreat to review and prepare the first draft of its strategic plan 2017-2021.
His Excellency the importance of holding this meeting to reach a new strategic plan that supports the University’s pursuit of excellence according to the highest and latest international standards, and strengthens its leadership position among the international universities, institutions of higher education, and scientific research and innovation centers in the State, being the first national academic institution in the State, with a commitment to maintaining the societal values and principles that meet the aspirations and vision of the UAE in leadership and going global, and meet the aspirations of our wise leadership to achieve advanced positions in the global competitiveness, which in turn enhances the position of the UAE globally.
His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan stressed that the strategic plan of the University is in perfect harmony with the Strategic Plan of the State, so as to achieve its general goals, and explained that the University’s plan aims to develop the plans and programs of the institutional and academic work of the University, and is keen to adopt national initiatives, such as innovation and creativity which have become an approach pursued by the University in all its plans and projects, which contributes to providing a scientific environment that stimulates innovation, ensures the achievement of academic excellence through the educational outputs that supply the labor market, and supports scientific research that contributes to the development of the local and regional community, through the pioneering role played by the University in promoting the knowledge-based economy and achieving the sustainable development.
For his part, Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of the University, stressed that the directives of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chancellor of the University, to hold this meeting comes in line with the strategic directions of our wise leadership, reflected in the adoption of innovation and creativity policy in various fields and in all academic and service institutions, especially the UAE University, being a leading institution able to develop and enhance the spirit of innovation, initiative, and excellence, and apply the best global practices in all of its work and services, and for its leading role as an academic institution and scientific research center, the University is always keen on building a strategic plan that meets the needs of the community, and it works in full coordination with the strategic plan of the State, and adopts the governmental initiatives and trends that contribute to supporting the development of the State.
It is worth mentioning that the University was keen to engage all sectors of the University, deans, professors, heads of academic departments, students, department managers, and administrators, in order to ensure effective, collective participation in the development of the current strategic plan, and promote the scientific and educational outputs, so as to serve the mission of the University, and meet the strategic needs of the State.
