His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sheikh “Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan” at the closing of the “2nd Government Summit 2014” affirmed that the success of this Summit stems not only from the large and active participation of government leaders, or experts, or the global companies who are leaders in multiple domains, who offered their rich and successful experiences, but its success is attributed to the successful coverage of the Summit meetings of all the issues presented for discussions, which included mainly education, health, social services, transportation and communication, in addition to the nature of sustainability and looking to the future which provided a spirit of innovation and creativity, not only in the UAE but in the whole world, in addition to the importance of involving the private sector and the vital sectors such as aviation, hotels and banks.
His Excellency the Minister praised the initiatives launched at the Summit, particularly the “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition”, His Excellency said “the contest reflects the determination of the leaders of the UAE for the developmental achievements to be produced by the children and students of the State under the guidance and care of their leadership, because they have the priority to build their nation, in addition to this initiative underlining the desire of the State to include all mankind in enjoying these achievements and the State trying to achieve happiness and well-being for humanity”.
His Excellency pointed out the importance attached by the State leaders, headed by The President His Highness Sheikh “Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan”, the Vice President, His Highness Sheikh “Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum” to the education sector, believing that it is the cornerstone of all achievements the State strives to in all sectors, which prompted the allocation of the key session on the first day of the Summit to keeping pace with the knowledge age and future education services. During this session the most important global trends towards the use of technology for education development were presented, and identifying the most important challenges and opportunities facing smart learning in line with the requirements of modern times, to prepare qualified capable cadres which can embody the leadership’s vision and translate it into reality. His Excellency added that the Summit has put education as a priority on the agendas of participating governments, and also showed interest in their students to encourage them and push them to creativity and innovation. During the Summit Sheikh “Saif Bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan” honored students from various UAE colleges and universities who contributed to supporting the State’s efforts to achieve excellence.
His Excellency noted at the end of his statement his Highness Sheikh “Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s”, Crown Prince of “Dubai”, statement when he said: “Our leaders are exceptional, and our people are exceptional as well”. The UAE students really are exceptional and are able to implement the requirements of the “Dubai Initiative 2021” launched by His Highness Sheikh “Mohammed bin Rashid” under the wise leadership of the UAE.
