His Excellency Sheikh “Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan”, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chancellor of “UAE University”, expressed his appreciation for and pride in the efforts of researchers, students, and business owners who are interested in the fields of environment, renewable energy, and green economy, which have been embodied lately in the third “International Conference on Renewable Energy”, which was held in “UAE University”, where the future and challenges of alternative energy was discussed through (70) papers, and through the “First Global Conference partnership for Action On Green Economy”, which was held in the presence of (600) global figures of ministers, experts, academics, and decision-makers, ensuring that “UAE’s” hosting for such a conference is part of its commitment to embody the goals of “UAE Vision 2021”, and support the international efforts which aim to advance the transformation to green economy to be able to achieve the sustainable development, and eradicate poverty. Due to the fact that “UAE” is considered the first Arab country that adopts the “Green Economy” approach, it looks forward to helping (30) countries transform to the green economy and create and sustainable environment by (2020), which represent the weakest link in the international development process, and leaving them alone in the face of their developmental hardships will result in the expansion of their crises, which will then transfer to the outside world and turn to global crises.
His Excellency ensured the support of the State’s leaders, led by his Highness Sheikh “Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan”, the President of UAE, for researchers, students, and business owners, and that they always give directions to provide all necessary care for talented students and for the development of their innovation and creativity, and to encourage the scientific research in this field by the professors, researchers and interested people, as his Highness Sheikh “ Mohammed Bin Rashed”, Vice President, said : “your imagination is your only limit…and all that we can imagine…can be achieved”.
His Excellency said that the infrastructure of the primary education, higher education, and scientific research in the State, and its developments that are on a par with the global research and technological developments, are able to effectively contribute to reach the final indicators in order to achieve the millennium goals. They are also ready for the phase post (2015), which the international forums and organizations recommended to prepare for, in order to be implemented and achieved by (2030), to include the achievement of prosperous lives, sustainable food security, sustainable water security, clean global energy, healthy and productive ecosystems, and sustainable community management.
His Excellency also valued the schools and universities in the State for their keenness to support this trend (Sustainable Development), and the preparations that they make to host the “UAE Green Festival”, which will be held from (16 March) to (16 April) under the theme : “Live, learn and have fun in a low carbon world”.
