His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chancellor of UAE University, praised the constant care and follow-up by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, regarding the education of Emirati women and the development of their abilities and leadership skills, in order to prepare female Emirati citizens capable of occupying leadership, administrative and executive positions, that was during his Excellency’s meeting with the University female students on Wednesday 12/3/2014, who participated in the final program at Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education, in Dundee, Scotland. His Excellency affirmed that the role of his Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in supporting the message of education and excellence is rooted, especially regarding the education of women, which is manifested in his Highness’s direct support for many educational, academic, and research institutions inside the State and abroad, such as his Highness’s support for Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education in Dundee, Scotland, through providing all requirements of success for this college, which has completed 17 sessions, from which female students graduated, as part of the Multiculturalism and Leadership Skills program, which proved its importance and success throughout the last years.
Dr. Aisha Abushelaibi, Dean of College of Food and Agriculture, showed his High Excellency the results achieved by the students who participated in the program and the extent of benefit attained from attending this kind of important program, which was prepared by the elite professors and specialized academics in the field of skills, leadership, and multiculturalism.
The students participating in the program gave a presentation to his Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan about the nature of their participation in the 17th session at Al-Maktoum College, where about 55 female students from the various universities in the State participated in this last session, including 7 female students from UAE University, along with 5 employees from Dubai courts, the students explained that the program was full of information and they acquired knowledge and skills in leadership and multiculturalism, and that the program provided them with a large area to give and exchange views, and an opportunity to be ambassadors and representatives of the Arab and Islamic culture, and to transfer the bright image of the Emirati community.
His Excellency pointed out that the wise leadership in our precious State has gone to great lengths in women’s rights and empowerment in all areas of life, until the Emirati women became a role model in different regional and global forums. He also referred to the directives of his Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of UAE, and his brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to support all attempts to create an ideal environment for women’s education and to prove their competencies at work, praising the role of his Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces , in providing the highest standards of education for Emirati women , which contributed to the achievement of gender equality, and opened the way for more equality between them in other fields.
His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan praised the efforts exerted by the administration of Al-Maktoum College and its keenness on providing all requirements of success for its programs, in addition to its provision of a comfortable educational environment that helps create ideal women leaders.
